Therapists for college students near 02139
Hi! Welcome to my practice. My name is Wendy Emory, LICSW. You are welcome to look at my profile on Psychology Today. Many clients come to me as they're feeling stuck and something isn't working for them, or alternatively, they're experiencing anxiety and overwhelm, perhaps related to transitions or trauma. Either way, I work to help people access what already exists within them, and help them feel better. I'm certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a body based oriented talk therapy used to help people heal from trauma and other relational injuries.
Throughout life, we experience many transitions and challenges that can be difficult to manage. Sometimes, we need additional support in identifying and navigating the barriers hold us back. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort between therapist and client and that we work together as a team to meet your goals, build resiliency, and overcome adversity. I utilize a strength-based and trauma-informed lens to empower my clients to develop insight and make meaningful change. I provide a nonjudgmental space to support your growth journey. I work with college students and adults navigating life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have specific expertise in supporting those looking to improve their relationship with food, body image, and movement. I also specialize in working with individuals that identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

At Lemonade Mental Health, we believe that asking for help is a sign of strength—and that even during life’s most difficult seasons, meaningful change is possible. Our mission is to create a warm, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. We provide personalized mental health care for adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, relationship and family challenges, life transitions, academic and career pressures, and other emotional and psychological concerns. We also have a special focus on supporting college students, international students, immigrants, and individuals navigating cultural adjustment and identity-related challenges. Our services include individual psychotherapy, medication management, and group therapy. Our clinicians draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness-based strategies, and other integrative approaches to create care that is tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. We are proud to offer care in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, helping clients feel more comfortable expressing themselves in the language that feels most natural to them. We value cultural understanding and strive to provide care that respects each person's background, identity, experiences, and values. When life gives you lemons, let’s make lemonade together. 🍋
I believe that therapy can be a space to feel understood and challenged, find relief, reflect, and grow—in yourself, your relationships, and your world. And I believe that making the decision to seek therapy is an honest and brave one. ABOUT THERAPY WITH ME I am so glad you’ve landed here and I hope to support you on this path. I welcome college students, graduate students, and young adults of all identities for both short- and long-term therapy. These unique and complex life stages are times of significant development, change, and often uncertainty. I offer therapy that is tailored to your specific needs. I attend to immediate concerns and make space for greater understanding of your identities, sense of self, relationships, exposures to trauma and oppression, and early experiences. Above all, I think of therapy as a relationship and a collaboration: Together, we recognize where you struggle and where you shine, understand what you seek, develop awareness, access feelings, and explore new ways of relating and connecting. Patients find that I am active in our work together, and that I blend exploration of emotions and insights with warmth, curiosity, and humor. I currently offer weekday morning and early afternoon appointments online. I expect to offer in-person in Cambridge, MA later in 2025. ABOUT ME I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University and a Master in City Planning from MIT. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School and my post-doctoral fellowship at Boston College University Counseling Services. I have advanced training in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International. I work in both English and Spanish. I'm a white, cisgender woman of Greek, Eastern European, and English descent, and I think about the kinds of power I do and don't hold in different spaces. I also think about how the intersecting layers of our identities, and of our personal and ancestral histories, are inextricably linked to who we are and what we bring to therapy. To all my work, I bring an understanding of my own identities and histories, and a deep respect for the transformative power of vulnerability, interdependency, and movements for racial, economic, and social justice.
People come to see me when they feel stuck and have had enough. I help parents help their children; help couples and families get closer and happier; and in general help people successfully resolve issues such as: stress, anxiety, adjustment to new life circumstances (relocation, family changes), relationship issues (divorce, extra-marital affairs, conflict), and dealing with difficult family members. I work with individuals and families dealing with medical conditions that can be affected by stress (Gastrointestinal issues, pain, sleep disturbances). I also work with people interested in specific skill building such as: stress/anxiety management, assertiveness and dealing with conflict, communication, and more.

Whether you're new to college or looking towards graduation, I am here to listen to your concerns and work through challenging moments - past and present. Together we will navigate the phases of your healing journey and enact change that leads you to your goals. That murky intersection of anxiety, depression, trauma and relational challenges can be daunting to navigate alone. We'll use a combination of concrete skills to address immediate concerns and insight-oriented therapy to uncover patterns and take steps towards long-term change. I typically see folks who encounter issues related to trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, gender and sexuality, and relationship issues. I specialize in trauma of all kinds. We will cater your treatment to your needs and let them determine our timeline. My therapeutic approach draws from the psychodynamic tradition and DBT. My unique approach weaves together insight-oriented therapy with skills-based strategies. Therapy can feel overwhelming and I’m here to ease the process in any way I can. Let’s address your questions and concerns from the outset. Check out my website for more and reach out for a phone consult! I now offer expanded availability for therapy sessions on all weekdays. I also host a small virtual DBT group for LGBTQ+ folks and a small virtual LGBTQ+ support group. Inquire for more details!
I offer a warm, non-judgmental opportunity to reflect on what is going on for you and what you can do about it. Navigating life is hard. Transitions, losses, relationships, economic pressure, depression, anxiety, trauma, and everything else that comes with being human can be difficult to manage under any circumstances. We all need new approaches sometimes. As we get to know each other, we will draw from a variety of therapies based on what makes sense for you. One size does not fit all! I would welcome the chance to help you consider what to do with your one precious life. I know it takes courage to reach out to a therapist, whether you have had therapy in the past or not. Just know I'll always be glad to hear from you.
Healing is nuanced, deeply personal, and rarely linear. It’s okay to ask for some extra support along the way. Therapy can be a space to help you process what feels stuck, create meaningful change, and feel more at home in yourself. You are not alone in this. I’m a queer, nonbinary therapist with over a decade of clinical experience across multiple levels of care. I have particular expertise in supporting adults as they navigate eating disorder recovery, body image healing, life transitions, and LGBTQIA2S+ mental health. The heart of my practice is building bridges of compassion between the body, mind, and sense of self. My dialectical and holistic approach is grounded in queer affirmation, neurodiversity affirmation, body liberation, and harm reduction. Whatever is bringing you to therapy, please reach out for a free phone consultation. I’d be glad to connect.
I am a client-centered psychologist who works with adults and adolescents (13+). I believe therapy should involve the whole person - including our internal, social, societal, spiritual, and physical selves. I invite clients to be collaborators in finding and exploring what will help them achieve growth. I provide a warm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment and believe a strong client-therapist relationship is essential for growth and change. I integrate aspects of multiple therapeutic modalities, including behavioral approaches (CBT, DBT, behavioral medicine/health psychology), mindfulness-based interventions, humanism, existential, relational and developmental theory, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic-informed care. I help patients/clients address a range of concerns including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use struggles, difficulties in relationships, grief/loss, identifying life goals, navigating life transitions, and balancing work-life demands. I received my training at William James College (Newton, MA). Trained with Advocates Community Counseling, Rutgers University College Counseling, and Boston Behavioral Medicine. I completed a post-doctoral behavioral health fellowship at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and worked there as a staff psychologist until October 2019. I have worked extensively in individual therapy, worked with adolescents and their caregivers, and have led mindfulness skills groups and anxiety skills groups. I am an ally and welcome all gender identities and sexualities.
In my practice I work with older adolescents and adults, focusing on personal awareness, empowerment, building skills for navigating life stressors, and enriching personal relationships. I have over 15 years of experience working in the areas of addictions, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship development. Together we will explore patterns and choices that contribute to your accomplishments and struggles. We will work towards self-awareness while remaining solution-focused, and will use the strengths you already possess to build more skills for managing the challenges that life brings.
I collaborate with adults as they heal from trauma, anxiety, loss, depression, other mood issues, or any number of matters leaving them feeling somehow ineffective. As a clinician for over nineteen years, I will join with you to identify and transform painful obstacles, arising from past and/or present challenges, which hinder you from making healthy changes. Drawing especially from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we will journey together to access your core nature, the Self, more spontaneously. This leads to clarity and calm over internal and external challenges you face, resulting in heightened creativity and effectiveness with problem solving, relationship building, and goal attainment. I believe you possess all necessary strengths and pathways to answers for improving your life, but may be having difficulty accessing them at present. I welcome individuals who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including those questioning or seeking help adjusting to leading more open, fulfilled lives with however they identify themselves. The IFS model utilizes a non-pathologizing, mind-body focus. Drawing from the natural strengths existing within each of us, IFS and EMDR guide a person into taking the lead in one's own healing process, no matter how traumatic a background one may have lived through. On 5/4/14, I completed the Level 2 IFS training. On 3/12/17, I completed the basic EMDR training. I accept these insurances: BCBS and Medicare.

I am highly trained in evidence-based mental health counseling approaches and in health coaching and use methods from both disciplines to help you calm your nervous system and activate change. I offer a trauma-sensitive, gentle approach and keep your preferences, needs and goals in mind, while allowing you to be in charge of your own therapy. I offer an empathetic ear, warm demeanor, positive regard and objective feedback or a gentle push if appropriate. One thing I believe strongly is that you have the strength inside to heal. You can live a healthy and happy intentional life. Through integrating evidence-based approaches to both mental and physical health you can implement real solutions for balanced living. Many people come to therapy feeling disconnected from their bodies, their relationships, or a clear sense of who they are... old wounds can show up through self-doubt, overthinking, numbness, or a feeling of not quite belonging. My clients are often introspective, sensitive, or creative souls that come to me during times of transition, burnout, relationship challenges, recovery from addiction, or when seeking a deeper connection to themselves and their purpose. Our therapy process will invite you to slow down, listen inwardly, and repair the hurt that restricts your vitality and authentic self-expression. I specialize in integrative therapy that blends relational talk therapy with body awareness, breath, inner child work, and earth-based practices. I draw from IFS, somatic therapies, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, while also incorporating ACT and CBT to support aligned action. My approach is non-pathologizing and collaborative. Our work will effectively move you towards: greater clarity and confidence in your choices; Emotional resilience and self-compassion; A more authentic connection to yourself and others; A sense of wholeness, direction, and purpose. If it feels like we could be a fit, I would love to hear from you. Reach out to schedule an initial session.
