* I am offering online therapy sessions for MA & OR residents on a HIPAA-compliant platform. Hello, my name is Cynthia (she/her). I am a licensed clinical psychologist in MA & OR. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I served as a public interest attorney in MI and OR. As a psychologist, I continue to work from an anti-oppressive framework, approaching therapy as a collaboration. I specialize in longer-term psychotherapy to enable deeper understanding of the meaning behind manifest symptoms by exploring one’s distinctive history, upbringing, and cultural context as it relates to the present. However, flexibility and collaboration are central to my approach for those desiring brief consultations for specific situations. I draw from psychoanalytic and attachment theories, which value understanding how our internal and external worlds interact. I pay attention to the contextual thread comprising our present selves including our early experiences and the cultural, sociopolitical milieu we inhabit. I have experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, community mental health clinics, and college counseling centers. I am especially interested in shifting patterns of psychological trauma to embolden one’s sense of agency and increase cognitive and emotional flexibility for a more compassionate and creative sense of being with self and others.
My style is warm, direct and collaborative. I aim to identify patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that limit one’s ability to pursue their goals. These patterns are often the legacy of successful coping at an earlier stage of life, but no longer serve one’s best interest. Exploring the underlying forces can open space to make new choices, grow, and alleviate suffering.
At Green Sheep, we believe in making therapy a space for creative experimentation, playfulness, and gratifying personal expansion. Practicing from an integrative feminist, strength-based, existential perspective, we affirm that every person is capable of utilizing and building upon their strengths and resources. I am particularly passionate about working with trans and LGB+ individuals, partners, and families, but am welcoming of all genders and all sexuality presentations. I work with teens, adults, pre-teens, partners/relationships, families, and groups. I work with a range of people, and enjoy working with those who have experienced family conflict or estrangement, dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, body image issues, gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, religious trauma, sexual trauma, medical trauma, or involvement in cults. As a counselor, I integrate various modalities into treatment based on client needs, including art therapy, relational cultural therapy, existential therapy, internal family systems, constructivist theories, and narrative therapy. Emphasizing parts work, my focus is on developing the inner healing intelligence that exists within each individual. Art therapy serves as a powerful tool in this journey, helping clients recognize, access, and connect with their inner healing intelligence through artistic expression. Whether you have prior art experience or not, art therapy is a tangible reminder of progress and aids in letting go of emotional burdens, facilitating positive and lasting change. We can decide together whether we might use art in our sessions together, and how it might be used. By learning new skills as well leaning on your inner healing intelligence, you can achieve deeper self-understanding, manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma, assert boundaries, and enhance self-image. Developing your authentic self becomes a powerful remedy for various emotional struggles, enabling a more balanced and fulfilling life. I am unable to accept insurance at this time, though I do help with billing out of network for those that have this option on their plan. I am a highly trained psychotherapist and psychoanalyst and I treat adolescents and adults who are struggling with difficulties in living, including depression, anxiety, self esteem, identity, sexual functioning, and career and parenting issues. If you feel lost, alone, worthless, or directionless, I can be of help. Psychotherapy or talk therapy is a collaborative process where we work to identify, explore and change repetitive patterns that may keep you stuck or unfulfilled whether in work, relationships, or life in general. Therapy can help you develop capacities, master traumas, resolve conflicts, gain clarity and perspective and lead a more fulfilling life. I did my psychoanalytic training at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute and graduated in 2006. A Training and Supervising Analyst, I am certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association. I am currently the director of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute, I teach. train and supervise mental health professionals. Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy are different from other forms of counseling and psychotherapy in that the focus is not just on alleviating symptoms but on understanding and working through out of awareness conflicts, beliefs, fears and patterns that effect current difficulties. Psychotherapy works best in an unhurried atmosphere where sessions are regular and frequent.
I work with adults and adolescents who are often times struggling with anxiety or depression. Sometimes, there aren't obvious symptoms; instead, there's a sense that something seems to be interfering with their ability to be happy, their relationships, or the life they want to live. I help people see themselves from a new angle, uncovering unconscious beliefs and seeing the collective parts of themselves from a new and accepting perspective. I am accepting new remote clients in California and remote and/or in-person clients in Oregon. Please visit my website to learn more.

My work is based on mindful and somatic approaches.
I believe healing happens when we learn to listen to our bodies, our emotions, and the deeper wisdom beneath old patterns. My approach is warm, intuitive, and collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can slow down, notice what's happening inside, and gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that you've had to protect or push aside for far too long. I pay close attention to your nervous system and what it's communicating, helping you shift from survival mode into a greater sense of steadiness and self-connection at a pace that feels safe to you. I draw from EMDR, attachment theory, person-centered therapy, internal family systems, psychodynamic therapy, somatic awareness and others. With these modalities, we won't just talk about experiences but will actually work with how they live in the body. We'll explore where tension settles, emotions get stuck, and where there's room for release or expansion. I’m especially attuned to the impact early relationships have on these issues and shape how we move through the world. My main goal is to help you feel seen, safe, and grounded as you rediscover a sense of ease in your body and your life.

Veronica journeys alongside folks in their path towards healing, harmony, and contentment. She finds beauty in witnessing the unfolding of human potential, and cultivation of meaning. Her formal training is in counseling psychology with an emphasis in depth-psychotherapy. Depth-psychotherapy can be defined as a holistic approach that examines all aspects of a person's life, including dreams, art, fantasies, philosophies, and conscious thoughts. She was heavily influenced by the work of Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung. In her work as a licensed psychotherapist she assesses the whole person or family system by looking at relational and cultural systems; spirituality; personal and intergenerational trauma; systems of oppression; personal values and how they are or aren't reflected authentically in the person's life. She has a private practice in Portland, Oregon where she offers psychotherapy, dream work, and psychedelic integration. She thoroughly loves the Pacific Northwest where she landed in 2011 after living throughout the US and Europe. Her ethnic and cultural heritage back to the islands of Quisqueya and Borinquen. She enjoys spending time with her child and family, traveling, hiking, camping, learning from plants, making or listening to music, dancing, being creative in the kitchen and sharing delicious meals with friends and family!
My clients are often women (but not always) seeking clarity and support around their current life situations, changes, and challenges - Maybe it's trying to work on their self-esteem, while balancing work and/or their studies and social and interpersonal relationships. Maybe it's processing loss/grief/change - including an influential person, a job, a move to a new city, a role in life (parenting). We can identify and practice shame resilience skills. We go through change all the time, and you don't have to be alone with it. My approach is described as active and supportive. I work with clients to address current issues and long-standing challenges. Applying sensitivity, empathy, and compassion, I help individuals bring resolution to a wide range of life challenges and clinical psychological issues. I have also worked in the addictions arena for 17+ years and have experience in alcohol and other substance addiction work. As well as some experience in working with compulsive behaviors such as gambling, shopping, and internet usage.
Do you feel ready to explore and heal what’s getting in the way of you living your most joyful, creative, connected life? Are depression and anxiety keeping you either feeling weighed down, dull, and purposeless, or else on high alert and living from a place of fear and busyness round the clock? Are habitual thought-loops and tensions in the body keeping you in a perpetual state of mistrust, perfectionism/people-pleasing, and/or judgement towards yourself and others? Often, depression and anxiety are the result of an impulse getting “stuck” in the system and not being able complete its cycle. In my practice, I use a blend of Somatic Experiencing, Voice Dialogue Parts Work, and mindfulness-based present moment inquiry to create a compassionate and attuned space of inner exploration and healing. My goal is to help you move through "unfinished business" stored in the body and the mind, so that you can live in greater wellbeing and freedom. I am here to help you gently release the shame, fear and mistrust that may be holding you back from delighting in your life and in your connections to humans and to the more-than-human world.
