Hello, I’m Joanna, a compassionate and experienced psychotherapist dedicated to helping adults, college students, and student-athletes navigate life’s challenges. College can be an exciting time, but balancing academic pressure, relationships, independence, finances, athletic responsibilities, and expectations for the future can also feel overwhelming. Whether you are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, co-dependency, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, or everyday stress, I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. I also provide therapy for athletes experiencing performance anxiety, difficulty balancing academics and athletics, burnout, injuries, identity concerns, low confidence, and stress related to competition or team expectations. Together, we will explore the challenges you are facing, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools to strengthen your coping skills, confidence, emotional well-being, and overall performance. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to your individual needs. I earned my degrees from Northern Kentucky University with honors, specializing in Trauma-Informed Care, and I am currently pursuing my doctorate to expand my clinical expertise. I incorporate a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to ensure that treatment is personalized to your experiences and goals. You do not have to navigate college, athletics, or life’s challenges alone. Taking the first step toward therapy is a courageous decision, and I am here to support you throughout the process. Together, we can work toward helping you heal, grow, build resilience, and create a life that feels balanced and meaningful.

Healing begins in a space where you feel heard, respected, and accepted just as you are. As a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist, I support adults who have experienced hurtful or unhealthy relationships, including emotional or physical abuse, and are navigating the impact these experiences can have on their lives. I understand that culture, family, and personal experiences shape how we view ourselves and our relationships, and I strive to provide care that honors your unique story and values. My goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, create healthier relationships, and move toward the life you want. My approach is warm, supportive, and empowering, with a focus on helping you recognize your strengths and create meaningful change. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences, heal from past hurts, and develop tools for building confidence, setting boundaries, and creating healthier patterns in their relationships. Therapy is a process we navigate together, at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful for you. You don't have to have it all together to start therapy. I'd be honored to support you along your path towards healing!

I am a board certified psychiatrist and provide combined psychotherapy and medication treatment. My patients are typically looking for therapy to address concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. They are also often looking for support with evidence-based medication treatment. I listen carefully to understand the difficulties that bring someone to treatment and to understand their goals. I am collaborative in my approach. I approach psychotherapy from a psychodynamic perspective, where the goal is to increase understanding and insight into thoughts, feelings, and behavior. When we can understand ourselves better, we can then change patterns that may be getting in our way. This type of therapy can often lead to lasting change. Please note that because my practice is telehealth only, I do not prescribe controlled substances (for example, stimulants for ADHD or medications such as Xanax or Ativan for anxiety).

College can be one of the most exciting seasons of life — but also one of the most overwhelming. Between academic pressure, anxiety, relationships, family expectations, burnout, and trying to “have it all together,” many students silently struggle while appearing fine on the outside. Hi, I’m Dr. Beverly Benoit, and I’m dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and break cycles of generational trauma. With experience supporting individuals from age 4 through adulthood, I offer a trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive space where young clients can explore their emotions, strengthen their sense of self, and thrive. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the understanding that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and intergenerational trauma shape both the emotional and relational landscapes of our lives. Healing begins with attunement—whether that means helping a child make sense of big feelings, guiding a teen through identity and self-worth challenges, or supporting families in rebuilding trust and emotional safety. In addition to child and adolescent therapy, I offer family therapy and marriage counseling. I view the health of the family system as foundational to a child's well-being, and I help caregivers and couples improve communication, navigate transitions, and create secure attachments. As a clinician certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT), I tailor evidence-based interventions to each client’s developmental stage and emotional needs. I also incorporate insights from my doctoral research, including the development of Socio-Motivational Systems Theory, a framework designed to address the specific needs of children experiencing racialized trauma by integrating trauma-informed care with motivational and systemic strategies. At Kinder Mind, I strive to meet every client exactly where they are—with empathy, creativity, and cultural humility—empowering them to grow into confident, emotionally healthy individuals. Areas of Expertise: Child Therapy (Ages 4–18) Trauma and PTSD Family Therapy and Parenting Support Marriage Counseling Emotional Regulation, Anxiety, and Depression Grief, Bereavement, and Hospice Family Support Behavioral Issues in Children and Teens I’d be honored to support your family on its path toward healing and connection. We’ll build the skills and strategies needed for a healthier, more empowered future. Now accepting clients in Texas, Massachusetts, and Virginia.

Hello! I’m a therapist in private practice, and I work best with students and young adults who feel like they’re carrying a lot on the inside while trying to keep up on the outside. Many of the clients who are a great fit for my practice are navigating anxiety, low mood, self-esteem struggles, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, the impact of past painful experiences, and major life transitions (starting college, changing majors, moving away from home, new relationships). If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like you “should be doing better” but can’t seem to turn it around, you’re not alone. Students often reach out when they’re: • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly “on edge.” • Stuck in overthinking, perfectionism, or procrastination • Feeling down, numb, unmotivated, or like it’s hard to care about things you used to enjoy • Burned out from juggling school, work, family, or big life changes • Struggling with confidence, self-worth, or a harsh inner critic • Having trouble with relationships, boundaries, or communication • Trying to heal after a painful experience, or coping with grief and loss In our sessions, we’ll slow things down and make sense of what you’re feeling, what’s been happening, and what you want to change. My approach is flexible based on your needs, but I often use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which helps you notice unhelpful thought patterns, understand how they affect your feelings and choices, and practice new ways of coping that fit your life. We’ll set clear goals, build practical skills you can use between sessions, and we’ll move at a pace that feels safe, especially if you’re working through trauma or loss. My style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. You don’t need to know what to say or have a “perfect” reason to start therapy. If you’re looking for a space that feels supportive and real, where you can be honest, get tools that help, and feel more like yourself, I’d be glad to connect. We can start with what’s most urgent and go at a pace that feels manageable.
