Ombu Counseling specializes in helping those facing new challenges in life, those in the process of negotiating their place in an adoptive environment, and those seeking to assert themselves in relationships, groups and/or families in which conflicting values, beliefs and expectations prevail. Major life transitions are challenging, especially when they provoke questions about one’s identity, culture, core-values and sense of belonging. Trying to figure this out can result in feelings of confusion and emotional exhaustion. Counseling offers a process for reflecting on such questions and space for containing the emotions they produce.

Reaching out for help doesn’t have to be hard or scary. You don’t have to do this by yourself. Many times, the client’s I work with tell me, it is a good feeling to feel supported and not feel alone. We all want to be able to achieve our goals and feel calm and happy at the same time. This is where I come in. I graduated from Indiana University Northwest in 2001 with my MSW. I have been helping people ever since. I can help you sort out feelings, cope with demands and learn skills to help manage your changing world. I have experience with concerns related to ADHD, school issues, depression and anxiety. When I meet with client’s, I bring with me my experience, knowledge, training and ability to connect and understand others. It is my goal to assist the people I work with to find calm and happiness in their lives. I utilize an eclectic approach to assist the clients with a broad range of needs. We will begin from a strength based perspective utilizing aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person in Environment Theory, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I retired from IU CAPS after 20 years and opened up a private practice in Ellettsville. This is 6 miles West of Bloomington on Highway 46. You'll have to drive to get here but I'm right off the Highway in a beautiful country setting. I can also do telehealth sessions if you like. I use a down to earth approach that deals with what's going on right now. It is supportive and helps people find their strengths.

College can be both exciting and overwhelming. Balancing classes, relationships, future plans, and personal struggles can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, or uncertain about yourself. I enjoy working with students who are navigating transitions, managing depression or anxiety, or processing the impact of their background and beliefs, including religious trauma. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can explore who you are, build resilience, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling college experience.

Healing and Growth Counseling, PLLC (Kate Tower, LCSW)
Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Clarksville, TN

Hello! My name is Kate, and I've been a therapist for 15 years, and a virtual therapist for 3 years. I have a Masters in Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. I love working with people of all ages, and enjoy addressing a diverse array of issues that impair us from being our best selves. In addition to myself, I work with 4 co-therapists; 3 dogs and a cat! They occassionally make brief appearances during sessions to provide their insight. I generally approach therapy as an equal meeting of you, as the expert on yourself, and me, as someone who can give some qualified insight and ask good questions to guide you to your own answers. I tend to be warm and engaging, and I pull the most from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), although I also use certain tools from other modalities, as well. In our sessions, we will work together to target the areas in which you would like to grow, give you the tools you need in order to produce the desired growth, and tackle sticking points and struggles as you work on applying what we discuss in therapy. I generally will give "homework" between sessions to help you continue to think about and apply what we are working on in your daily life, but it's nothing intense, I promise! Most clients find the "homework" really helpful and even fun, sometimes.

As a dually licensed therapist in Indiana and Illinois, I offer a unique advantage to clients who attend school out of state and return home during the summer. This dual licensure ensures continuity of care, eliminating the need to switch therapists or interrupt treatment. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and focused on building a strong connection with my clients. Through this approach, I strive to create a safe space where individuals can explore their challenges and work towards growth and healing. I firmly believe in using evidence-based practices to address a wide range of conditions effectively. What sets me apart from other therapists is my ability to infuse humor into the healing process when appropriate. I have found that incorporating humor and creativity empowers individuals to embrace imperfections and build resilience. If you are interested in starting therapy, feel free to reach out for a complimentary consultation where we can explore if my approach aligns with your needs.
