I have over 12yrs experience providing support and relief for people suffering from or trying to manage anxiety/depression as well as major transitions in life. I offer support, insight and tools to manage and overcome. I try to weave in both a clear understanding with the client as to the root cause of the concern or difficulty with at least 5 different tools they can use to help manage the day to day. Working at both these levels I have been able to see great success and change in my clients. I am an engaging and warm individual that ensures from the beginning my clients feel comfortable and supported. The college students I work best with are thoughtful, curious, and trying hard, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. Many are dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, or OCD and feel overwhelmed by the pressure to succeed, figure things out quickly, or keep it all together. Some struggle with focus, motivation, or routines, even though they care deeply about their goals. A lot of my clients tell me they feel stuck in their heads, constantly overthinking, procrastinating, or second-guessing themselves. They’re tired of feeling like they’re falling behind and want someone who truly understands and can offer tools that actually help. Anxiety has been very present over the past few years. I specialize in working with anxiety whether it is about the ever changing world we are all experiencing or a long term personal relationship with anxiety. My therapeutic approach is based on Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) for intervention and talk therapy with a psychodynamic orientation for understanding underlying root causes and insights. I explore the underlying dynamics of the past creating interference with today. I take a direct and genuine approach in therapy with compassion. I'm passionate about collaborative work in the therapy room as an agent of change. I work with individuals to illuminate the path towards self-awareness through exploring underlying yearnings and opportunities to consciously choose actions based on meaning and values. I generally provide practical interventions to use in your daily experiences to actively work towards your goals in between sessions as well.
